We don't really know what the frequently asked questions are yet, I mean we haven't launched so no one has asked any questions. But we can take some educated guesses at what people will have questions about, so here we go.
Q: Where is all the info on Elsie Fest 2018?
A: The main site is at elsiefest.com. You can also get information at Elsiepod's blog including the FAQ. Info is on Darren's site at darrencriss.com/elsiefest2018, that's where you can sign up to get the presale code. You can also follow Elsie Fest and Elsiepod on Twitter, as well as Darren Army or any of the other big Darren accounts.
Q: Who are you? Why did you create ElsieDate?
A: It all started with a joke that became an actual plausible idea. We are fans of Elsie Fest who thought it would be cool if people had a way to connect with other musical theatre fans specifically to find people to attend Elsie Fest with, attend other shows with (in New York or elsewhere) throughout the year, heck maybe even date. In fact we reserved the elsiedate.com domain back in late October of 2017!
We are in no way officially involved with Elsie Fest or with Darren Criss' team or with any official entity at all. We're volunteers who are doing this because we think it's worth trying. If it crashes and burns, well at least we gave it a shot.
Q: So is this a dating site or what?
A: No. But also maybe yes. Despite the name and the discussion that led to the idea, we don't intend for this to be primarily a dating site. It's a way to connect people in all sorts of ways related to Elsie Fest and musical theatre and so on. That said, we think it'd be cool if adults who are passionate about musical theatre and related stuff could have a way to find like-minded people and pursue something beyond friendship. So there will be a forum dedicated to that, but at this point we don't anticipate doing anything more formal or involved. (That said, if anyone has expertise in the area and wants to talk to us about a business proposal incorporating our idea, we are open to the possibility!)
Q: Why isn't this on Twitter? Or Facebook? Or wherever else I already spend all my time?
Most social media sites are not designed to do what forums do, and many people specifically choose not to use some or all of the social media sites. The only thing that could come close to what we wanted to do is a Facebook group, but some folks won't use Facebook and there are some issues with it (like fan accounts getting deleted). If you've used forums (aka "bulletin boards" for the old fogeys) before you should have no problem on here. If you haven't, it's no more complicated than all the other ways of connecting on the interwebs (probaby less) and you'll figure it out and get comfortable quickly, really!
